The Big Sleep

By Aaron Bushkowsky

An adaptation of Raymond Chandler’s most famous work.

A millionaire is being given the squeeze by a blackmailer over his youngest daughter’s gambling habit and he wants P.I. Philip Marlowe to make the problem go away. But with the old man’s two wild daughters prowling LA’s seedy backstreets, Marlowe’s got his work cut out – and that’s before he stumbles over the first corpse.

Vertigo’s new take on Phillip Marlowe is a neon-drenched charmer.

Back in 2014, Vertigo Theatre produced the world premiere of Raymond Chandler’s Farewell, My Lovely by Aaron Bushkowsky. Vertigo Theatre was so pleased with that production that they commissioned Bushkowsky to write Chandler’s The Big Sleep for the stage. This production has the quick dialogue and the great witty banter that carries it along…If you’re a fan of Chandler’s work, this play will give you the experience you are looking for.

There's more comedy than noir in Vertigo Theatre's version of Raymond Chandler's 'The Big Sleep' but that's hardly a criticism.
Vancouver playwright Aaron Bushkowsky has a real knack for splattering his Philip Marlowe plays with chuckles and even some big laughs all the while his characters are disposing of one another right before our eyes.

Vertigo Theatre’s production of Raymond Chandler’s 'The Big Sleep' brought to life the world of 1940s L.A. in an imaginative and captive way.
