The Millennial Malcontent

By Erin Shields

“Happiness is a cheat. A name we’ve given to the absence of any other emotion, to the moments we’re free of fear or anger or sorrow, but that doesn’t make happiness real. In fact, it makes it nothing. It’s all bullshit anyway, so we might as well have a bit of fun.

Moxy is married and seething, fed up with the constraints of domesticity, and longing for some action. Meanwhile, her long-suffering husband Johnny has decided that enough is enough and contemplates having an affair with Faith, a secret admirer. Add to the mix a vain YouTube Star, his Québécoise cousin, a lesbian party girl, a PhD student and a music blogger and the stage is set for a raucous exploration of the social posing, sexual frankness and emotional minefield of the Millennial generation.

Production History

Directed by Peter Hinton, The Millennial Malcontent was first produced at Tarragon Theatre under Artistic Director, Richard Rose.

Tarragon Theatre (Toronto) - February - April 2017
