Ruby and the Reindeer

By Mark Crawford

Twelve-year-old Ruby lives on a dairy farm with her single dad Dave. When an unruly reindeer appears in their barn one December day, it sets Ruby on a path to uncover family secrets, play holiday matchmaker, and save Christmas!

Told as a memory play, Ruby (now an adult) looks back on a formative week of her childhood before she embarks on her next adventure.

Ruby and the Reindeer is a family-friendly holiday comedy about parents and kids, Christmas in the '80s, and finding magic in very unlikely places.

Production History

Ruby and the Reindeer was commissioned, developed and first produced by Here For Now Theatre Company in 2025. It had its world premier on December 12, 2025.

The script also received a workshop at Theatre Aquarius as part of their Brave New Works series in May, 2025.
