Marie Farsi

Playwright

Marie Farsi’s move from directing to writing for the stage was a natural evolution. As a director and dramaturg who has co-created numerous original works, her creative process is deeply informed by the Francophone concept of Écriture scénique—a method of “authoring” through all the theatrical elements, including set, costume, movement, light and sound. These elements each carry expressive and poetic weight, offering unique dramaturgical potential. For Farsi, written language and embodied language are not separate—they coexist on stage, shaping meaning together.

She is particularly drawn to reimagining classical texts and adapting expansive narratives like epic novels, uncovering new dimensions through performance. Farsi’s theatre is defined by a fearless embrace of risk and a commitment to pushing boundaries. Her goal is to craft experiences that are emotionally powerful and intellectually engaging—work that dares, provokes, and refuses to leave audiences indifferent.
