Barbara Pollard

Playwright

Barbara has a 50 year career spanning stage, TV & film spending equal time performing live and before the cameras. With a wide range of talents including extensive roles in Shakespeare (Gertrude in Hamlet for Bard on the Beach) to musicals (The Sound of MusicFiddler on the Roof, Billy Elliott & The Music Man) to improv. As a writer/creator of Moms the Worda 30 year International hit and it’s three ensuing productions, she has travelled the world performing her own words in tours across Canada, incl.Just for Laughs, The Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and theatres in Europe including London’s West End. In film and TV recent roles include the film Champions, with Woody Harrelson, a villain for 2 seasons on Virgin River,  and guest spots on such shows as Wild Cards, Blockbuster, Chesapeake Shores, Supernatural, iZombie, X-Files, and over a dozen Hallmark movies with the most recent Confessions of a Christmas Letter . She is also the lead in Mom & Me (and everyone on-line) a mini-series directed by her daughter Emma Pollard which has over 5 million views. In 2024/25, Barbara returned to Alberta to do a mini-series for Paramount starring Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen. And this summer? Another  Hallmark Christmas romp. I hope I get to say that every year!
