Annabel Griffiths Fitzsimmons

Playwright

Annabel is a playwright, creative collaborator, theatre and movement teacher, and long-time member of the Playwrights Guild of Canada. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Western University, is a graduate of the Theatre Arts: Performance program at Toronto Metropolitan University, and is currently enrolled in the University of Guelph Creative Writing MFA program (2025-2027). 

With her writing partners, Alison Lawrence and Mary Francis Moore, Annabel co-wrote the widely acclaimed play Bittergirl (Scirocco Drama), Bittergirl – the Musical, and the book Bittergirl: Getting Over Getting Dumped (Penguin CDA/Penguin US/Distribuidora Brazil), as well as the plays Flush and Synchronecessity. She is co-writer of the new musical Beyond with Amy Sky and Steven Mackinnon. Annabel has written and developed numerous TYA plays, including The Gift and Feedback, and is the creator/writer of Reunited – the musical, currently in development.
