Alison Kelly is an award-winning playwright and actor, and a writer of books for young audiences. She is part of the Mom’s The Word collective which created the international hit Mom’s The Word and its sequels, Mom’s The Word: Unhinged, Mom’s The Word: Remixed, Mom’s The Word: Nest Half Empty, and Mom’s The Word: Talkin’ Turkey.The Mom’s The Word plays have been seen by nearly two million people worldwide.
Other plays include, Conversations With My Mother (co-written with Stacey Kaser. Production: Gateway Theatre), The Day Before Christmas (Co-written with Stacey Kaser, Productions: 2 seasons at The Arts Club Theatre), How to Survive a Fall Through the Ice (winner of a commendation by the BBC in the 2023 International Audio Competition) and Inch by Inch (Special Merit Winner in Theatre BC’s 2023, National Playwriting Competition and winner of best play for young audiences in Ottawa Little Theatre’s National One Act Play Competition, 2022).
Currently in development: Rose’s Garden, a dark comedy about love and death, and Last Call, a dystopian conversation between friends.
Alison’s first book for young audiences, Granville Island ABC: a Family Adventure (Heritage House Publishing, 2022), spent two months on BC’s best seller list.
