Based on the short story The Hockey Sweater by Roch Carrier

In 1946, ten-year-old Roch Carrier lives, breathes and plays hockey. He worships the fabled Montreal Canadiens, and wears the team's sweater...until his mother declares it is too tattered to last another winter and orders a new one. When a mail-order mix-up leaves Roch wearing the colours of the enemy — the Toronto Maple Leafs — he learns it is not what you wear on your back that counts but what you hold in your heart.

Production History

Commissioned by the Segal Centre (Montreal, QC), the musical adaptation of Roch Carrier’s beloved story: The Hockey Sweater had it's world premiere at the Segal Theatre in October 2017. The musical received further development funding through The National Arts Centre's National Creation Fund, and played to full houses at the NAC in December 2018.
