Farren Timoteo

Director

Farren Timoteo is an Edmonton-based theatre director specializing in musical theatre and comedy, with additional work in opera and new Canadian plays. 
 
Selected directing credits include The 39 Steps, Everybody Goes to Mitzi’s, and The Infinite Shiver (Teatro Live!); Rapunzel, Pinocchio, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Hansel and Gretel, Jack and the Beanstalk, The Steadfast Tin Soldier, and Little Red Riding Hood (Alberta Musical Theatre Company); The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story (Mayfield Dinner Theatre, the latter co-directed with Van Wilmott); Pippin (Citadel Theatre Young Company); The Light in the Piazza (MacEwan University); L’Histoire du Soldat (C’Mon Ensemble, in collaboration with conductor Alex Prior); The Bea Arthurs: Reunion Tour! (Edmonton Fringe); and Songs for a New World (Take Me Back to Manhattan Productions).
 
Farren has also assisted on major opera and large-scale musical productions including Roméo et Juliette (Calgary Opera, assistant to Jean Grand-Maître), Don Giovanni and HMS Pinafore (Edmonton Opera, assistant to Oriol Tomas and Rob Herriot), and Crazy for You (Citadel Theatre/Theatre Calgary, assistant to Dayna Tekatch).
Known for his precise theatricality, strong comic instincts, and high-tempo musical storytelling, Farren’s work is performance-driven and dynamically staged. His work has been recognized with multiple Sterling Awards, a Jessie Richardson Award, a Betty Mitchell Award, and the Calgary Theatre Critics’ Award. He is currently the Artistic Director of Teatro Live!.
